Should i allow my dogs to share their crates.?

As long as you don't use the cage as punishment then I don't see why not. A crate should be exactly as you describe it: a place where they can go lay down, relax, etc. If they want to relax with each other during the day, then let them. It'll stress them out to be apart and their crate won't be a happy place anymore.
