How to get rid of or lessen period pains?

Okay so for some unholy reason, midol does absolutely nothing for me. My pain though isn't in the lower stomach area where most women get cramps. My pain is in the lower back and it feels as if someone kicked me in the kidneys. Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but it's my weird body. Please for the love god help.
